Eligibility
Who Can Train?
Who can enrol in DDA cosmetic injecting courses?
DDA clinical cosmetic injecting courses are designed for
appropriately registered healthcare practitioners.
This includes registered nurses, dentists, medical
practitioners and plastic surgeons who meet the relevant
course prerequisites.
Each practitioner remains responsible for ensuring the
procedures they perform are appropriate to their registration,
education, competence, authorisations and scope of practice.
What experience do registered nurses need?
Registered nurses must first complete at least one year
full-time equivalent practice after initial registration
in a general or specialist area of nursing practice,
excluding non-surgical cosmetic procedures.
This requirement is intended to allow RNs to consolidate
their foundational nursing knowledge and clinical skills
before progressing into non-surgical cosmetic practice.
Do I need previous cosmetic injecting experience?
Not for our foundation-level courses.
Foundation training is designed for appropriately qualified
practitioners who are new to cosmetic injecting and need
structured education in anatomy, assessment, consultation,
treatment planning, technique, safety and complications.
Mid-level and advanced courses have additional experience
requirements, which are listed on the individual course pages.
Do I need current AHPRA registration?
Yes. Practitioners undertaking DDA clinical cosmetic
injecting training must hold appropriate current
professional registration and meet the eligibility
requirements for their chosen course.
If you are unsure whether you are eligible, contact the
DDA team before enrolling and we can guide you.
Does completing a course automatically expand my scope?
No.
Completing education or attending a cosmetic injecting
course does not automatically authorise a practitioner
to perform a particular procedure or expand their
professional scope of practice.
Practitioners remain responsible for ensuring they have
the appropriate education, training, competence,
authorisations and experience for the procedures they
provide.

What Should I Expect?
Are DDA courses online or face-to-face?
Our clinical cosmetic injecting courses combine both.
You first complete structured eLearning before attending
your face-to-face practical training at Dermal Distinction
Academy in Melbourne.
We also offer fully online education for practitioners
looking for refresher training, focused CPD or additional
theoretical learning.
Do I need to complete the eLearning first?
Yes.
The required online learning must be completed before
attending your practical session.
Preparing before the clinical day allows your face-to-face
training time to focus more effectively on patient
assessment, consultation, treatment planning, technique
and supervised clinical treatment.
Where is face-to-face training held?
Face-to-face training is held at Dermal Distinction Academy:

Balwyn North VIC 3104.
Our Melbourne training location provides dedicated
clinical areas for practical education and patient treatment.
How long does a practical training day run?
Practical training times vary according to the course.
Many foundation practical days run for a full clinical
training day, while more comprehensive pathways may include
multiple practical sessions.
The current timetable and CPD hours are listed on each
individual course page.
Can DDA provide private or clinic-based training?
Yes. Private training options are available for practitioners
wanting more individualised clinical education.
DDA may also be able to provide training at an external
clinic for suitable group bookings, provided the clinical
environment and training arrangements meet the necessary
requirements.

Understanding Your Responsibilities
What do the current Ahpra cosmetic procedure guidelines mean for practitioners?
Registered health practitioners who perform non-surgical
cosmetic procedures must ensure they have appropriate
education, training, competence and experience for the
procedures they provide.
The current guidelines place additional emphasis on
patient assessment, informed consent, psychological
considerations, safety, competency and ongoing professional
development.
Does completing a DDA course automatically allow me to perform the procedure?
No.
Completing education does not, by itself, expand a
practitioner's scope of practice or provide an authorisation
that they do not otherwise hold.
Each practitioner remains responsible for ensuring that
their registration, scope of practice, competence,
professional indemnity arrangements and any required
medicines authorisations are appropriate for the services
they provide.
Is Dermal Distinction Academy an RTO?
No. Dermal Distinction Academy is not a Registered
Training Organisation and does not issue Australian
Qualifications Framework vocational qualifications.
DDA provides continuing clinical education designed for
registered healthcare practitioners, with a focus on
anatomy, assessment, treatment planning, practical skills,
patient safety and competency.
Is competency assessed during DDA training?
Yes.
DDA training includes assessment of the knowledge and
clinical skills relevant to the course rather than simply
recording attendance.
Practical education focuses on applying anatomy,
consultation, assessment, treatment planning, technique
and patient safety within the clinical setting.
Does a course give me prescribing rights?
No.
Completing a cosmetic injecting course does not provide
prescribing authority.
Prescription-only medicines remain subject to practitioner
authorisations, professional requirements and the medicines
legislation that applies in the state or territory where
you practise.
Your scope remains your responsibility.
Training is one part of professional development.
Practitioners must also consider their registration,
experience, competence, authorisations and applicable
professional and legislative requirements.

What is included in my practical course fee?
The course fee includes the learning components and
practical training specified for your course.
Products, consumables and equipment required for the
supervised practical component are provided by DDA,
so you do not need to bring your own clinical materials
for the training session.
Are payment options available?
Yes. Payment options may be available for eligible courses.
The available arrangements and payment timing can vary,
so check the current payment information when enrolling
or contact the DDA team if you would like help planning
your course payments.
When do I receive access to the online learning?
Access depends on your enrolment and payment arrangement.
Once your course requirements have been completed and
access is released, you can begin working through the
online component before your practical training date.
Remember that required eLearning must be completed before
attending your practical session.
Can my employer enrol multiple practitioners?
Yes.
If several practitioners from the same practice want to
train together, contact DDA before enrolling.
Depending on the course and group size, we may be able
to organise a private group training arrangement or
discuss suitable course dates for your team.
